Track FIRE progress against real numbers
A FIRE calculator gives you a number once. Tracking tells you whether you are still on the path six months later, which is the part that actually decides anything.
The dashboard
Totala computes your FIRE figures from the portfolio history you are already keeping, so they move as your real balances move rather than as your assumptions change.
- FIRE number from your own spending and chosen withdrawal rate
- Coast FIRE — whether growth alone now reaches your target
- Projected date, updated every time you confirm balances
- Financial runway: how long your net worth covers expenses today
- Contributions versus market growth, separated
Why the projected date moves — and why that is the point
A projection built once, in a spreadsheet, quietly stops being true. Markets do something unexpected, your spending changes, you get a raise or a redundancy. The number stays where you left it and the plan drifts away from reality without announcing it.
Because Totala recomputes from your actual balance history, the date moves when your situation moves. That is uncomfortable in a bad year and useful in every year: you find out early rather than at the end.
Goals with an estimated arrival
Set a net worth or dividend income target and Totala estimates when you reach it, based on your own contribution rate and history rather than a generic assumption. The estimate carries its assumptions with it so you can see what it depends on.
Common questions
What withdrawal rate does it assume?
Whatever you set. 4% is the common default and what the tools use unless you change it, but the rate is an input rather than a fixed assumption baked into the maths.
Does it account for inflation?
The FIRE target is expressed in your current spending, so use a real (after-inflation) return in the projections to keep both sides consistent. The compound growth calculator shows both the nominal and inflation-adjusted results.
Can I track Coast FIRE separately?
Yes — Coast FIRE is on the FIRE dashboard, and there is a standalone calculator if you just want the number without an account.

The FIRE and Coast FIRE calculators need nothing from you but a few numbers.
