Balance & Monthly Review

What does "confirming" a month mean?

Confirming locks that month's balances. This ensures your data is accurate and unlocks insights like month-over-month growth, momentum analysis, and trajectory estimates. You can still edit confirmed months, but changes will unconfirm them.

When should I confirm each month?

At the end of each month or the first few days of the next month. Check each asset balance, update if needed, and confirm. It takes less than 5 minutes. You will get a notification reminder if you have browser notifications enabled.

What does "auto-calculated" mean on an asset?

Assets with market prices (stocks, ETFs, funds) are calculated automatically from their transactions and current market price. You don't need to manually enter a balance for these. Just confirm them each month.

Can I add past months of data?

Yes. On the Balance page, use the month navigator to go back in time. Create a month, enter the balances you had at that time, and confirm. The more historical data you add, the better your trend analysis will be.

How do I track dividends?

On the Balance page, there is a "Dividends" field at the bottom. Enter the total dividends you received that month across all assets. Totala tracks your trailing 12-month (TTM) dividends and shows progress toward your dividend income goal.
