Getting Started

What is Totala?

Totala is a private net worth tracker. You manually enter your balances each month to track your wealth over time. It shows trends, momentum, goal progress, and portfolio allocation without connecting to any bank.

How do I get started?

Create an account, then go to Portfolios and create your first portfolio (e.g. "Personal"). Add assets to it (bank accounts, investments, crypto, etc.). Then go to the Balance page and enter your current balances. Confirm the month to unlock insights.

What is a portfolio?

A portfolio is a group of assets. You might have one portfolio per person (e.g. "Richard", "Sandra") or one per purpose (e.g. "Retirement", "Emergency Fund"). Each portfolio contains assets like bank accounts, investments, or properties.

What is an asset?

An asset is any account or holding you want to track: a bank account, brokerage account, crypto wallet, property, pension, cash, etc. Each asset has a name, type, and currency. Some assets update automatically from market prices (stocks, ETFs); others you update manually.

What should I do after adding my first assets?

Go to the Balance page, enter the current value for each asset, then click "Confirm balance" on each one. Once all assets are confirmed, the month is locked and you will see your first data point on the Overview chart. Repeat this each month.
